Hi!  Can someone recommend an online scheduling system that is easy to get started, user friendly, cost effective etc.   Not sure I want to get a whole salon software in place, although I may, so if you are using a complete system & love it, tell me more & why!  Thank you in advance.  :)

I'm using vagaro and I LoVE it!!! It also has an app that my guests have so they can book their own dates on their phone. I couldn't run my business without it. Also it's very very affordable

oh, thank you.... sounds like you just use the scheduler?  is that right? 

I am using the scheduler and I check my guests out in Vagaro, I'm just using Square to run their actual credit cards.  I really like that my guests also get confirmation texts and reminders

just started using Vagaro too!  Also use Square for c/c processing.  In the vagaro system i mark credit card purchases as CASH since we can't mark credit card right?  then how do you mark actual cash?  wondering if there's a way around it

who do you use for credit card processing?  vagaro's system?

I just opened and am using Booker. Love that I can track inventory and assign costs to treatments.

Is that spa booker? 

Yes.

I use Styleseat and love it. It's free but they have other packages that cost money. Not necessary though.

You HAVE to try schedulemax.com They are SUPER amazing, professional and always there if you need them. It only cost $15 to get started and they have an option to receive a text message to your cell phone when a clients books online. I have their BOOK NOW button on my Facebook page and on my website. When I first joined I needed a booking system that was not complicated and easy for my customers. Give them a try... you won't be disappointed. MindBody Online.  It's not the cheapest, but I grew from one therapist to 8 in less than 3 years, and I could not have done that with without it.  It is a full-featured, cloud based system which encompasses your booking (both online and employee-booked), point of sale, online store, and all of your sales and marketing reports.  It allows you to securely store credit cards and charge for missed appointments.  It sends out appointment reminders by email or text.  It integrates with your email marketing system to ensure that those email addresses you enter when you schedule (or that clients enter when they schedule) get popped into your newsletter list.  It allows clients to sign in using their Facebook account.  It handles things like payroll (time clock or commission on services and products or both), sales reports, sales tax reports, tracking revenue per client, client retention, honestly more reports than I even know how to use.  There is a dashboard feature which is awesome that gives you a visual overview of how your business is doing, what departments bring in what proportion of revenue, etc.

There is a significant learning curve (3 multi-hour phone/web training sessions, plus additional reading and practice and calls to their (free) tech support), but once you overcome that, it's an awesome system.  Training front desk staff to use it takes about a week and a half of shadowing and practice for a smart person (I usually hire part time women who are in college or just out of college).

Another thing I love is that you have full control over how much access you grant to different staff members in the system.  I have certain staff who are allowed to book clients, and others who are not.  Certain staff who can see certain reports.  I make everything on a need-to-know basis.  Also, if you think you might have IC's some day, you can enter things like backbar charges.  Before getting into spa, they started as a software for fitness/yoga studios, so it's very easy to post classes and have clients enroll online (we will be doing this with our new nutritionist).  It's so comprehensive and they're rolling out more improvements all the time.  I can't recommend it enough, and if you look into it, please let them know that I sent you :)
