Hi everyone,

I'm trying to plan a time when I can fly to visit my family for the holidays. I've just started my own business and of course every day is slow but I don't want to miss any opportunities. How does the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve typically look? Are people booking facials for New Year's Eve parties? Do holiday gift certificates start to be redeemed then? Thanks for your help!

Or would I be better off leaving the first week of January?

I've just reviewed my past 5 years, and the week after the holiday is quite decent.  People out and about doing the gift return/post holiday sale thing.  The first week of January, on the other hand, is the deadzone.  Every year.  Go in January, you won't be missing anything!

although most of my famiily lives where i do, if i am planning a trip or will be away for an extended period of time, i will usually run a special on treatments prior to leaving and sometimes after to make up for those days! It seems to work well for me. I too , am a solo business!
Thank you both! This is really helpful!
You're welcome!

Unless you are having an event or have booked a party, this is usually pretty slow. I always have at least a few people that will come in, but if you give them advance notice, most people can come in the week before or after. It's early enough that you can block it off and just start reminding people now that you will be closed during that time,

I also usually have at least one month during the summer that is agonizingly slow - usually August or September.

I've decided to take a wait and see approach during November. Also, turns out that flights are about $100 cheaper that first week of January! ;) Thanks, Cindy!
