I have a pregnant friend who just called me about her itching chest and stomach. As I have never been pregnant and have not had much experience on this in my practice. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for her? I told her lots of hydrating products like a thick moisturizing cream with shea butter as well as NO ITCHING!!!

Also, she was wondering on pregnancy acne. I am wondering on others thoughts on this as well.

Thanks for any input offered. :)

I would tell her to get some good vitamin E oil and if she doesnt want to just use that on its own she could mix it into a  moisturizer.

I am currently 36 weeks (out of 40) pregnant with my 3rd, so I have a lot of practice here! :)

Cocoa butter is the best for preventing stretch marks and also seems to help with itching (although shea butter does help with the itching too).  Anything extra emollient and hydrating is the ticket.  I personally prefer organic and natural (not a lot of additives) as well.

As for pregnancy acne, some women get clearer skin and others get more acne.  It all depends on the way the mom's body responds to the extra hormones.  Typically I treat pregnancy acne just like any other breakout.

Hope that helps!
