Hello Home-based Esthys,

I have the opportunity to advertise with a marketing company, but they require my home address appear on the ad, and BEFORE deciding to move to a home-based business, my husband and I decided that I would provide the address as appointments are made. I also remember seeing one or two of your websites that actually states that your location(s) will be given via phone or as appointments are scheduled. NOW my question is, would you guys run an ad with Groupon or Living Social or someone like that with your home address? Thanks again!

Lugenia - I tried initially to keep my home address more private, but I've found it impossible with the online marketing and merchant card involvement. No problems to this point.
I decided that groupon wasn't going to work for me due to large responses I saw others get. I know it's enticing, but I like developing long term treatments with clients and felt that groupon could bring too many for me to handle just looking for the good deal and compromise my solid client's scheduling.

I think a solo employee business running a group on or living social deal could be an absolute nightmare. I would research this decision big time.

In regards to home address, I've never had anyone show up who had not booked. My website states by appointment only. People may be more likely to call you if they know where you are located. Check my site out for an example

Jennifer,

I was looking at your website and think it's very cute. I'm about to add male brazilian to my services and I noticed you charge $40 for female and $80 for male. Why the difference?

I use far more hard wax to do a male than a female and include the full bum if desired, few people offer the service, I'm good and quick at it and it also makes sure I'm being paid for a service that a man is really wanting to get rather than him thinking for $40 bucks she'll touch my wiener!

lol. That was funny. However, I can see truth in it too. How do you advertise?

LOL great web site & great brochure. I do the opposite, I charge more when I do women's Brazilians than men. I actually use sugar when doing waxing services.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for replying and for sharing this information. I've actually been a fan of your setup for some times! I love your vintage photos and your overall website! Because of your website, I've thought about placing a picture of my home and (of course) the spa area.

Hi Sandee, thanks so much for replying! You know, I thought as much, BUT I didn't want to miss a great opportunity, YET I can't afford to get myself in a pickle. As for my address, I will not mind sharing in the community, such as local newsletters, flyers, etc., but I'm a bit hesitant to provide that sort of information in that capacity. I'm still figuring it all out & I am grateful that folks like you are just a post away! :-)

Lugenia,

I would absolutely NOT do any such advertising. It is not safe. As a home-based business I do NO advertising. All my clients are by referrals or they find my website by internet search. I specialize in Acne and only take acne clients. I do not do any waxing or anything else other than acne. I never ever take a male client when my husband is not home. Lugenia my business is private and by appointment only. And I do not put my address out there. A client will only be given it when they book an appointment. Please be safe. Best wishes, Susan  www.thefacialroom.com

Thank you Susan! Thanks for replying and for sharing your information. Your setup is wonderful! I sound like a broken record, but I sincerely appreciate you all responding and sharing! Thanks to each of you. I'm confident with moving forward with my original plans.

I am not sure that I would make public my address. This would get you out of control of who you want to come and who you are not OK with.
