I bought a multifunction machine a while back and the mag lamp that came with it is loose and I'm told the magnification is sub-par... also read that mag lamps have fallen on clients so I want to research better, safer models.

I really can't find anything on line that is helping me to choose a better lamp that's more suitable for estheticians.  I'm willing to spend up to $150 or so on a good, reliable one.  Any recommendations or shopping tips?  Thanks.

Usually magnifying lamps are heavy so you'll need a sturdy, wooden table to attach it to. You can look for eby or amazon to buy a good lamp with good reviews.

When you say loose, do you mean at the joints?  Like, the head sags down while you are using it?  IF this is the case, you can tighten up those joints.  Usually you need an allen wrench of the proper size to do this.

If the lamp is loosely sitting in the h*** in the machine to the point you are worried about it falling out, you could consider salvaging the lamp by buying a mag lamp bracket (Universal - about $20) and attaching it to the wall or a more sturdy table.  They have both clamp (table-top) and bolt-on (wall) styles.

If the lamp is finished, there are some very serviceable models on LCL Beauty at reasonable prices.

Good luck!

I bought a mag lamp at the local discount power tool store, in the section that's geared towards small crafts/clockwork.  It works amazingly, has great magnification, and it was $35.

Thanks everyone for the advice!
