I was wondering what is the common thougt process behind the use of facial paraffin wax.  I have heard all the great benefits but also know that it is a petroletum by product in a "pure" form.  I think it would be great to add but also wanted to know what any of you may think also.  I look forward to hearing your thoughts

I also have the same question.

I don't really know -

I purchased the Amber facial paraffin last year thinking that I would incorporate it into a Hydrating Winter Facial.

But I STILL haven't even tried it.

My thoughts are that if you are using it on top of gauze then there really shouldn't be any product penetration per se.

Not a good product to use if the client has claustrophobia  I learnt this from having one myself!  I felt like I was suffocating and had to have it taken off!  But that is me....I am an odd one!!  hahhah.  But in answer to your question about the petroleum I agree with Cindy's comment.

I like using paraffin in facial treatments but the petroleum aspect did turn me off to it at first. I suggest trying out Eco-fin. Non-petroleum and made of natural oils and butters. It does take some getting used to because the consistency is a little bit different from traditional paraffin but I love it. Hope that helps.

Alicia - you are using the Eco-Fin on the Face?

It is soy and coconut oil based, not sure that it would be appropriate for the face as it is meant for hands and feet.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I tried it for awhile using the gauze but I think it's too messy and not as effective as I was hoping :(.

We used it in school and it was messy, but also wonderfully softening for the skin.  The paraffin wax will not absorb into skin (too large), but the warmth will help whatever product you put on the skin first to penetrate.  I'd like to use it in sessions, but because of the mess and amount of time that it takes, I'm not sure how well it would fit in to my routine.
