Tricks for a newbie - I need your input!

I have basically all the equipment needed to start. I just recently decided to rent my own room at a salon and do facials there. I was originally doing a few at home and I work at a medspa 4 hours a day in the morning as well, but I get paid a whooping $15 an hour to do facials. YUP. You read that right. Well, I'm done.

I don't have a towel warmer, can I use a crock pot instead? and what towels to use for this? any links?

what about microdermabrasion? I was thinking just getting the dermafiles, but I've seen nice little machines with diamond tip at amazon. any suggestions on that? I have very little budget tho!

I have an ultrasonic spatula, steamer, lamp, high frequency, galvanic, ultrasound for body and face, will have access to a sterilizer, I have a back bar, bed, what else do I need? 

I got the insurance covered, and got all the consent forms needed. But what about your preferred online booking? I will like to try something free... I'm already playing around with one but I'm thinking there must be others out there I can try. Also, how do you manage your finances? any good free software I can use that is great for newbies?

Also, what sites I could use to buy body wrapping materials?

I love my big crockpot, its works just fine. Sometimes the towels get too hot but I just shake the heat off em. If you cant afford at least a few grand for a good microderm just go with the dermafile.

I've been using fullslate and enjoying it. I like that I can keep client info, notes, scheduling and the price is right with our discount from ASCP.

Hello, I hope all is well. I used a crocpot for years, no problem. The towels can get very hot so just be cautious of that. If you have a spray/vac machine you can purchase the micodermabrasion heads and wands on ebay/amazon and attach them to your vac. There a very inexpensive solutions for LED panels (look up Christine Byer on youtube) and microcurrent. I have a small machine from a company called Skin Act that I paid like $250 for and it works great. As your practice grows up grade to better equipment. Best of Luck!

The heads may not be as good quality as the expensive stuff but any time I buy things like that I do it with the knowledge that it a disposable tool. But I have been using the set I have now for a year with no real wear, in fact I did a micro/peel earlier today on a new client who felt like it worked better than what her old esty was using (I think that is about technique, not equipment) .

Vagaro is the way to go, I have been using it for about 4 months now and love it, you can link it to facebook, and websites so clients can schedule right from there, you can keep track of your schedule, your income, your clients, you can put notes in on your clients, you can put your products in there also for backbar and retail. For what they charge it is great. I used an expensive program at a location I worked at, the owner paid a lot of money for, and when they did updates, she had to pay again, any time they made changes to the software, she's been using the vagaro for over a year now and loves, does everything her old expensive program did and more.

I shopped around for items, best towels & white thermal blankets I found were on ebay a company called Georgia Towels,  3 thermal blankets for $30, I almost sent them back as they appeared so thin, called & was advised to wash them & they puffed right up....love them!!  Towels were great too, bought the spa suggested ones, about $1 each for 12.  Don't get the draw sheets, I thought they would be the perfect size & price, but they were dingy, not snow white. Best place for white sheets is Walmart Twin size for about $6 each. Good Luck!!
