On the topic of eyes and UV, here is an article from 2001 that explains exposing your bare eyes to UV can create a whole-body tan (in mice studies).

Wow I never new that about sunglasses. I was just telling myself I need to start wearing them to avoid me squinting due to the sun, and causing premature botox wrinkles.

No BCP and I definitely use high SPF sunblock daily plus makeup. My melasma started about 2.5 yrs ago when I moved to FL from SF. I ended up with actinic keratosis (6 months after moving to FL) and had it "frozen" and then it's been nothing but downhill from there.  Because it is curved right where the edge of the sunglasses end, I suspected that the plastic, coming in contact with the sun, could be causing it. I also researched that wearing sunglasses could cause pigmentation because the brain registers less sun (UV) causing the melanin cells not to work as efficiently. So I stopped using sunglasses. Now I have to deal with frown lines as well (which are starting to form). I'm telling ya, this is one tough world for a girl! :-) LOL  Thank you, ladies, for your advice. I will be trying the mandelic, the melanin suppressant as well.

Also if you apply too much it can be a chalky finish on darker skin types

I personally like the Pca Skin Perfecting Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 30. It has licorice, mulberry and bearberry in it to help with evening out the skin tone. It is one of those spfs where it only takes a little. It leaves like an slight matte finish.

Youre welcome. Ive learned because Ive had pigment issues as well a coupld years ago, slow and steady wins the race. It may seem like a long time, but took me a couse of 2 years to get rid of pigmentation. Let us know how it goes.

A great peel to use on Fitz 5 & 6 is Mandelic Acid. Which should produce great results
