How to name (one woman shop) a new company Name

I have been in the business for 6 years and am finally going out on my own.  So far my biggest problem is naming the company.I am all about the health of the skin and my clients state of min, lets face it, sometimes we are like the bartender we hear everything about their lives.  I am PCA Certified, and Oncology Certified.  My rooms have always been warm and cozy - warm sage color, with paintings of lavender fields with poppies; and other lavender paintings.I need help, I will be going on my…See More

Looking for a facial bed in the area of King County, Washington for a women's shelter

Recently retired my skin care business but am setting up a "spa" at a local shelter for homeless women.  As a volunteer I am in need of a facial chair. Hoping to find someone who would be willing to donate a chair for this worthy cause! See More

Online deals and doing them too often...

Ok, so I finally decided to do a local online deal. It ends tonight at midnight, and so far 15 were sold..I am happy, it's better then nothing.  It is my first time though and may be my last. I only say that because I don't want people to get used to my "deals"  I wanted to know what everyone's thoughts were on doing so many deals all the time. I see 2 of the same spas in my area constantly doing deals. People buy them, but doesn't it devalue your service after awhile?Or am I doing something…See More

Esthetic news... What's new in the industry today

The Esthetic world is constantly changing and it can be somewhat difficult to keep up with the latest ingredient, product, buzz word, treatment, etc. It is especially difficult for us "newbies" that really don't know where to turn or what is the best source of information as there is a plethora out there.  I felt this group would be a great place where other Estheticians could share information about what they heard or interesting articles they read as some of us may have missed it.       …See More

Permanent makeup equipment and supplies

I'm going to be taking a permanent makeup course in the next few months, but I've been trying to research the equipment and products used for when I'm certified. I can't seem to find any reviews on machines, and the websites I'm finding are all just vague non-informational "made in China" kind of sites.Does anyone have extensive experience with the equipment used? Any leads on where to get pointers and reviews so I can purchase something high quality?See More

From Esthetics to Advanced Procedures from an RN's Standpoint and Combination Licensing

I have been a Licensed Esthetician, Certified Aromatherapist, and Professional Makeup Artist for 6+ years, 9 years total in the cosmetics/skincare business. I formerly managed cosmetic lines such as Estee Lauder (twice) which is what inspired me to get into Esthetics. After graduating and moving, I found a very hard time finding employment at a spa with a steady facial clientele in the Pawleys Island, SC area. After deliberation, I decided to enroll in college again for my RN to combine with…

The Journey Begins!

After 16 years of  it working as an esthetician, I've decided to go off into the world of being self employed! I had made a weak attempt early on in my career, but did it for all of the wrong reasons; ultimate flexibility! (no such thing especially as a small business owner), free products! (yeah right, this is why I saw NO profit) and calling my own shots (My clients should have been calling the shots, after all they were my bread and butter).

See, all the wrong reasons. Not…
