Grooming Men with Beer

I just read an article in the Ashland (OR) Daily Tidings about a spa owner who threw her first men's-only "A Beer and A Buzz" party in which males, some of whom might be a bit leery of time-consuming grooming and the thought of "ooey" beauty treatments, were lured off the highway by a sign promising $15 haircuts, $5 brow waxing, $10 manicures, $15 chair massage and $20 express facials, along with beer in buckets in the front yard of the spa! The article stated it was a way for a guy to get…See More

CEA is not just for Cosmetology Educators any more!

If you have assumed in the past that the Cosmetology Educators of America (CEA) conference is only for cosmetology educators, it's time you take another look! For the last several years, the ASCP Skin Care Schools Council has helped to bring an entire track of education to this conference that is specific to skin care educators, and this year's conference promises to be the best yet! This year's CEA conference is being held July 27-30 at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida.…See More

"I know ... you would think common sense would tell you that if the stones are too hot for you to handle, they are too hot to use on the client. But, sometimes, common sense isn't all that common! "

Thank you, Mom!

This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and it’s likely that quite a few of us will either be spending time with our mother, or will be thinking about a memory from the past involving her. I just want to share one very important lesson I learned from my mother, although it was much later in life that I actually appreciated it!

My mother was a very fair-skinned Swede, and although she enjoyed the great outdoors, she usually headed for the nearest shade tree when possible. She also wore…

Wow! I can't believe it's been a year!

Or actually just a little more than a year! Time DOES fly when you’re busy and having fun! When we started this online community in January 2011, of course we hoped it would be popular and useful to esties from all over the country, but it is still so exciting to see more than 3,000 people enjoying the forum. And even some from outside the USA.

I love to see all the great discussions, questions, answers, and the other ways you are helping each other succeed, and the…

Greetings!  I am interested in communicating with other estheticians who are pursuing Oncology Esthetics.  I just received my actual certification this month.  I trained with Morag Currin in AZ in November.  Are you presently working with cancer patients in a hospital or other setting.  I am interested in hearing what you are doing.  Take Care!
